Question: I'm looking for a new lens for my 20D. I currently own a 50mm (1.8) and some cheap kit lens that came with my Canon K2. I'm now looking for a good "walk-around" lens. I love my 50mm but it's fixed and I need a lens with decent zoom capabilities. I'd prefer to stay in the $350 and under price range. Help!?

| MOST RIDICULOUS WEEKEND EVER. |

Heres the story of my trip to boston and chatham,ny.
Because I haven't really slept all that much, and so much went down, I'm going to attempt to break this down without leaving anything out and without boring whatever readers I may still have too much.
Also, this may get broken down in days, but really, we never slept on this trip(besides some car sleepage) so the days are going to get broken down weird.
Friday:
-grace called me at 7:50 pm to invite me to go to boston in 45 minutes with no plans, no where to stay, and no idea of where anyone or anything is or hangs out or what we could even do in boston
-of course I wanted to show 20 years old that I may no longer be a teenager, but i can still be fun and spontaneous
-I got ready and we were off
-we picked up majella and headed for the north
-we stopped in some random town and grace rode on a motorcycle with some dude
Saturday:
-we made it to boston at around 2amish
-we went to a 24hour diner on south street at like 3-330am until after 4am where we met a man named "nicky" who stalked kate hudson at one point and had a white husky dog(adorable)
-we left the diner and drove to some pier area where these really nice boats and hotels were located and we explored until after 6am
-we then drove to newbury st. where we put some money in a meter and slept in the car with all the windows open and NO ONE said shit. No cops, nothing.
-then we went to a coffee shop
-then we went to a park and I slept for exactly 1 hour(i was told we were leaivng at 11 and i literally got up and sat up EXACTLY at 11am
-we got in a little bit of a fight/miscommunication and we all were sort of unhappy with each other(or at least with me)
-we then we went to allston so we could find the 2 vegan restaraunts everyone rants and raves about
-we took a bus there and found them easily but first had to go to some vintage stores for grace
-ate vegan pizza at tj's and it was fucking amazing and the folks that worked there were awesome
-we then found a really really free market behind some school and went there
-we left the really free market and wandered around some completely random streets
-I look to my right and stand in complete shock as I noticed MY FRIEND LOUIS MARSHALL FROM MY HOME TOWN STANDING ON HIS PORCH
-I yelled what the fuck like 100 times and he just looked at me in complete shock.
i mean, how often do you randomly go to a city with no plans, walk down a random road, and then run into a kid you grew up with?
-we hungout at louis's house(where a few other kids i know lived or were hanging out) for a bit
-louis gave us a tour of boston/harvard sq. area
-louis left us at newbury comics(which fucking rules, btw)
-we all were really tired after exploring the harvard sq. area and decided we needed to find the car
-a lot of drama and upset occurred around this time because of everyone wanting different things and just being generally unhappy and tired
-we got to the car, and tried to handle all the drama to finish our night off with fun
-grace and i went on a dinner date to this amazing pan-asian vegan place called "grasshopper" while majella cooled off at some bar
-the dinner was amazing and so was the date
-I gave her a book on buffy with a letter i wrote to her in it and we passed eachother notes
-i was planning on asking her to date me but got too nervous but by the end of the night, she asked me to be her boyfriend, and I obviously said yes
-we left the restaurant and she screamed to the city of boston that she wanted to date me because she said the way she asked wasn't epic enough
-we got in the car and then realized we needed directions home, so we parked where we could find wireless and we found directions to some sustainable eco village halfway between boston and westchester, ny
-we got on the road and everyone fell asleep(including majella at the wheel) and we hit a guard rail and nearly died
-we all were fine and so was the car, but we decided we needed sleep
Sunday:
-we got to a rest stop probably around 2amish or so and then we all passed the fuck out til the next morning
-we woke up and got stoked for the remainder of the journy
-we made it to this "sustainable eco village" but found out it was just a blue print, and really it was still an abandoned set of warehouses yet to be turned into anything
-we were pissed because it was 10am and our time was ruined
-we went into chatham(the local town) and asked some man where food was
-he said "the entire town is under construction, but theres a little restaurant in town that you can go to" which to me sounded like "this town has nothing to offer you, there will be no vegan food for you to eat, and we hate tourists" so I was in a bad mood
-we got into the town and parked and decided to walk around
CHATHAM, NY IS THE FUCKING SWEETEST TOWN EVER
-imagine an old western outlaw town with that one road where all the saloons and stores and shit are, thats chatham
-they have A COMPLETELY VEGAN BOUTIQUE/SHOE STORE like mooshoes(the owner and i talked for a longggg time)
-an amazing healthfood store
-an all vegan healing sort of store
-3 or 4 cafes(one with vegan food)
-an old movie theatre
-this AMAZING irish bar with all this pagan and medieval armor and furniture and shit and the owner gave us a tour/history and invited us back
-we all collectively decided that this was our town, and that we need to go back
-we left around 1ish and drove home
i got home somewhere between 230 and 330 and when i got inside, i passed out until 1130 at night
i woke up, and here i am!
I came back with a love for boston, spontaneous road trips, a new partner, a love for chatham,ny, and an over all understanding of how people and myself work in certain situations.
This trip is what I needed.

yesterday was so fun/scary/frustrating. i went to jakes and it was so so so much fun then we went to mike barrys and went on the trampoline and it was like pitch black and i fell off and almost broke my arm. then we went swimmingggg and it was so much fun. but then getting to aubreys from mikes was so bad. we left at 12 and didnt get home till 2. it was so dark and we kept accidently going on the south side of the taconic about 4 times and then ended up on the newburgh thruway. and i was on empty the whole time so it was so bad. when we finally made it home after 2 hours it was the happiest moment of my LIFE!!!!!!! i love my friends.
